It is an agent for the treatment of infections due to anaerobic bacteria, such as 1. Prophylaxis: The prevention of postoperative infections caused by anaerobic bacteria, especially those associated with colonic, gastrointestinal and gynecological surgery. 2. Treatment of the following anaerobic infections. Such as Intraperitoneal infections: peritonitis, abscess; gynecological infections: endometritis, endomyometritis, tuboovarian abscess, bacterial septicaemia, post operative wound infections, skin and soft tissue infections, upper and lower respiratory tract infections: pneumonia, empyema, lung abscess. 3. Nonspecific vaginitis. 4. Acute ulcerative gingivitis. 5. Urogenital trichomoniasis in both male and female patients. 6. Mixed trichomonial and candidal infections. 7. Giardiasis. 8. Intestinal amoebiasis. 9. Amoebic involvement of the liver.
Dosage & Administration
Intravenous Infusion: Adult & Children over 12 years: 1. Anaerobic bacterial infections: 0.8 g once a day, slow intravenous drop, normally 5-6 days is a period of treatment, or decision according to state of illness. 2. To prevent the postoperative anaerobic bacterial infections: 1.6 g in total. Drip once or in two times. The first time is 2-4 hours before surgery and the second time is during surgery or 12-24 hours after surgery. Children: Patients under the age of 12 are prohibited from taking this medicine.
1. The drop speed of it should be slow. When the concentration is 2 mg/ml, the drop time is no less than 1 hour every time, when the concentration is more than 2 mg/ml, the speed of drop should depress one to two times. The drug should not contact pinhead and canula containing aluminum and avoid dripping with other drugs. 2. If there is central nervous system adverse reaction during the treatment, should stop using it immediately. 3. It can disturb the examination results of alanine aminotransferase, lactate dehydrogenase, triacylglycerol, hexokinase etc. 4. Should not drink alcoholic drinks during using it which can cause acetaldehyde accumulation, disturbing oxidation process of alcohol and leading to disulfiram-like reaction. Patients may have abdomen spasm, nausea, vomiting, headache, flush etc. 5. Its metabolism is slow in patients with hypofunction of the liver. The drug and its metabolite are easy to accumulate in the body. Should reduce the dosage and do blood drug level examination. 6. It can be cleaned through gastric juice. For some patients who place stomach tube to attract and reduce pressure, using it can lead to blood drug level fall. It and its metabolite will be cleaned quickly while doing hematodialysis, so it does not need to reduce the dosage. 7. If patients with Candida infection use it, their symptoms will become more serious and need to treat anti-fungus at the same time. Use in Pregnancy & Lactation: This medicine can penetrate through the placenta and enters into the embryo cycle. Women within 3 months of the pregnancy are prohibited from taking it. And pregnant women over 3 months of pregnancy should choose this medicine only under specific guidance. Breast feeding women should avoid taking this medicine. If necessary, stop suckling temporarily, and lactate 3 days after suspension of the medicine.
