Indication

For effective relief from occasional constipation and chronic constipation. Also effective in resolving faecal impaction, defined as refractory constipation with faecal loading of the rectum and colon.


Dosage & Administration

Constipation: The dose is 25 ml daily. This may be increased to 50-75 ml daily, if required according to individual response.
Faecal Impaction: 8 doses of 25 ml daily. A course of treatment for faecal impaction does not normally exceed 3 days.
Patients with renal insufficiency: No dosage change is necessary for treatment of either constipation or faecal impaction.

Direction of use:
Each 25 ml should be dissolved in 100 ml water. Discard any solution not used within 6 hours.

Pregnancy:
No effects during pregnancy are anticipated, since systemic exposure to Macrogol 3350 is negligible. Macrosol can be used during pregnancy.
Lactation:
No effects on the breastfed newborn/infant are anticipated since the systemic exposure of the breastfeeding woman to Macrogol 3350 is negligible. Macrosol can be used during breast-feeding.


Precautions

This medicinal product contains 8.125 mmol of sodium in each dose of 125 ml. The sodium content of oral solution should be taken into consideration when administering the product to patients on a controlled sodium diet.
